Why teak?

We specialize only in dealing in the finest of teak furniture. Teak is a tropical hardwood tree species, native mainly to South and South East Asia. The tropical climate it grows in gives it qualities far superior to other types of wood commonly used in the manufacturing of outdoor furniture. 

Teak has been used to furnish the homes and outdoor living spaces of the powerful and wealthy since around the 7th century because of its natural beauty and durability. 

Teak must be left to grow for around 80 years before it is fit for harvest to be used in construction of furniture. It naturally contains high levels of oils and rubber which when growing protect the tree against the elements. Most other types of wood lose a large quantity of the oils and rubber after they're cut down, leading to weathering and rotting. 

Teak on the other hand retains more of these oils giving it greater naturally weather-resistant properties than just about any other type of wood!
